The Department of Dentistry at the Ninth Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Second Medical College is one of the best dentistry departments in Asia. It is the training base for senior dentists appointed by the Ministry of Health, editing unit of text book “Dental Repair” used as standard dentistry text, and vice chief unit of Chinese Medical Association-Dental Repair Specialty. In addition, it gives out questions for national qualification exam for dentists.
The department has 18 professors and associate professors, 11 PhDs, most doctors have MD degrees. It has 7 sections and 5 laboratories. They pioneered many procedures in this field. In the last five years, they have accomplished over 30 research projects sponsored by National Natural Scientific Foundation, Chinese Ministry of Health, Shanghai Scientific Committee, and Shanghai Bureau of Health, published over 140 articles and 17 reference books, as well as won 6 scientific awards. |
