Stem Cell Treatment For Autism

Stem Cell Treatment For Autism

Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.  The exact causes are not certain. However experts believes that it is caused by malfunctions of the information processing procedure in the brain. The connections between different nerve cells, which transfer information from one neuron to others, are either damaged or disorganized. Or the nerve cell itself is damaged.

Genetic disorder, virus infection, vaccine, birth defect, and/or environment are all potential causes, but none of these has been singled out as a universal cause of autism. Most likely the cause of autism could be any of the above or a combination of above.

Autism is usually detected when the child is one and half years old to two years old.

Autistic children show lack of social interactions and relationships. It presents problems in verbal communication and nonverbal communication, such as facial expression, eye contact, failure to establish friendship with other kids of the same age, lack of interest in sharing ideas, or enjoyment.

40% of Autistic people are non-verbal. Some autism children speak before age 1 or 2 and then regress and loss language skill they had before. This is called regressive autism. Some people with autism talk, but they usually showed delayed language development when they were young, and cannot start or maintain a social conversation.

Autistic people also have difficulty understanding. For example, they may not be able to catch the implied meaning of the entire sentence but interpret the communication word for word.

Autistic kids don’t like to be held, don’t show interest in games like peekaboo, and don’t begin to talk. They act out with intense tantrums and have short attention span.

Autistic people usually show stereotypic behaviors and narrow interests. They focus on pieces, such as stacking up and lining up domino cards, or repeatedly play the same game.

Early intensive language therapy and behavior training are important to improve the situation for most children with autism. If you have tried everything that you were recommended and nothing seems to work, it may be the time to consider stem cell treatment

Two of the stem cell centers in our network have experience in treating autism. These centers use stem cell treatment combined with Chinese acupuncture. Few kids started talking during the first round of treatment. Many others started talking months later after continues language therapies after the treatment. A few kids attended regular school after the treatment. However, all of them have been through all kinds intensive therapies before the treatment and nothing worked and that brought them to the stem cell therapy.

According to Dr. Ge from stem cell treatment center at Shandong Jiaotong Hospital, autism is the damage to neurons that involved in communication and / or information processing. Stem cells repair the damaged neurons and synapses, junctions between nerve cells. During the treatment section, most kids show increased eye contact and better understanding what people say. For those who never speak, an intensive language therapy following the stem cell treatment will be needed for them to learn to speak.
